Agreement
By using LithoMap, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. LithoMap is provided by PTW Referrals LLC as an exploratory mapping and educational tool.
Informational maps—not legal or safety advice
Map locations, geologic boundaries, public-land boundaries, roads, trails, hazards, and scientific records may be incomplete, approximate, outdated, or unavailable. LithoMap is not a legal survey, navigation tool, emergency service, or substitute for official land-manager instructions.
You are responsible for checking current weather, closures, fire restrictions, road and trail conditions, emergency plans, actual land ownership, permits, and lawful access before entering an area. Use dedicated navigation and safety resources appropriate for your trip.
Lawful access and collecting
Never enter private property without the landowner’s permission. Follow all federal, tribal, state, local, and site-specific rules. On U.S. federal public lands, vertebrate fossils may not be collected without the required research permit. Other rocks, minerals, plants, invertebrate fossils, cultural items, and natural resources may also be restricted by agency or location. When uncertain, leave the item in place and contact the appropriate land manager.
Acceptable use
Do not use LithoMap to trespass, damage resources, disclose protected or sensitive locations, interfere with others, violate intellectual-property rights, upload unlawful content, or evade land-management restrictions. Do not attempt to disrupt, scrape, reverse engineer, or overload LithoMap or its data providers except where applicable law expressly permits the activity.
Third-party services and content
LithoMap combines third-party maps and scientific data. Those materials remain subject to their own licenses, attribution requirements, availability, and terms. A record appearing in LithoMap does not prove that an object is present, accessible, safe, lawful to collect, or correctly identified at specimen level.
Paid plans and automatic renewal
Paid offline plans are sold only through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The store displays the localized price and billing period before purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled through the applicable store before renewal. Deleting LithoMap or deleting a LithoMap account does not cancel a store subscription.
Plan limits apply to active offline areas, completed downloads, transfer volume, saved places, and sharing features as shown before purchase. Extra-download credits require an active subscription, are consumed only by completed qualifying downloads, and do not replace the plan’s active-area limit. Failed or interrupted downloads do not intentionally consume a completed-download allowance.
Accounts and private sharing
You are responsible for protecting your sign-in credentials and for the locations and notes you choose to share. Private invitation links are intended only for the selected recipient. Do not share sensitive, protected, unlawful, or unsafe locations. LithoMap may revoke abusive invitations or access when reasonably necessary to protect users, providers, or the service.
Availability and warranties
LithoMap is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. PTW Referrals LLC does not promise uninterrupted service, complete offline coverage, accurate third-party data, or fitness for a particular expedition or purpose.
Responsibility and changes
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you are responsible for your decisions, conduct, equipment, access, and safety in the field. These terms may change as LithoMap evolves. Material changes will be identified by a new effective date and communicated when appropriate.
