Rules to confirm at the site
- Stay on trails and boardwalks.
- Collect nothing.
- Do not climb or enter closed quarry features.
- Leave historic and geologic surfaces unmarked.
An old webpage, saved map, app layer, social post, or prior visit cannot override a current closure, posted boundary, permit condition, mining claim, staff instruction, or landowner decision.
What makes the site geologically useful
The bridge is carved in roughly 550-million-year-old marble and was shaped into its modern gorge form by glacial meltwater.
The abandoned quarry shows how people used the same bedrock that controls the natural landscape.
